*[demo] is a songwriting app for drafting lyrics, with tools like rhyme suggestions, line suggestions, a rhyme map, syllable/melody checks, versions and optional collaboration with other people.
By default, your songs — lyrics, titles, chords, notes and the rest — are stored only on your device. You don't need an account to use the app this way.
If you sign in with Google, your songs sync to a cloud account so they're backed up and available on your other devices. Signing in also creates a profile (a username, display name and optionally a photo and social links) that other people you collaborate with can see.
Tools like Lines, Rhymes, Muse and Writing Voice work by sending the relevant text from your song — the lines you're working on, not your whole library — to an AI service (OpenAI's API, or, on the web version, Claude) to generate suggestions. That text is used to generate the response to that one request. We don't use it to train our own models, and as of this policy's last update OpenAI's API terms exclude API data from being used to train their models by default — but you should assume any text you send through these features leaves your device.
If you'd rather nothing you write is sent anywhere, you can use the app without touching the AI-powered tools; everything else works entirely offline.
If you invite someone to collaborate on a song, that song's content becomes visible to them, and your username/display name becomes visible to them as the owner (and vice versa). Removing a collaborator or turning sharing off stops further syncing, but doesn't retroactively erase what they already received.
*[demo] isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.
As the app moves from beta toward a public release, this policy will be updated to reflect it — including if payment, analytics or additional data uses are introduced. We'll update the date at the top when that happens.
